Day 52 - travel to Siem Reap

We had booked a 7:30am pick-up for our 6 hour trip to Siem Reap in a WIFI'd, air conditioned Greyhound bus (with extra leg-room) but at 8:00am they still hadn't showed up!  We started eating breakfast in the hopes that this would bring the bus to us and twenty minutes later it did come by and we drove all over Phnom Penh picking up other tourists, then transferring to a larger bus for the rest of the drive.

Once en route they turned on the bus' TV screen and played Jack & Jill, a movie where Adam Sandler plays both male and female roles...terrible!  After 2 hours we stopped for a toilet break and then at 3 1/2 hours we stopped for lunch at a small restaurant overlooking rice paddies.

The bus arrived at the Siem Reap bus station at about 2pm and then there was absolute chaos with about 15 tuk-tuk drivers trying to get our business.  Checking into our hotel was pretty quick, and we were given a refreshing drink and cold towel and shown to our lovely AC'd room!  We tried the pools downstairs (there were two) but the mosquitos got to me so we scurried back to the room.

A little while later we ventured out for dinner to a highly rated italian place called Il Forno, where we had the most amazing pesto mushroom pizza and afterwards I haggled a young gal for some MC hammer pants ($4USD), to wear the next day at Angkor Wat.

We had set up with our original tuk-tuk driver to get picked up at 4:30am for the sunrise at Angkor Wat and so went right to bed after dinner.
